Transportation Correctional Officer

Full Time Position

Job Summary

The Transportation Officer insures that inmates are transported both to and from the jail.  Keeps logs of all transports.  Maintains court orders and schedules required transports and transfers.  Works with medical staff to arrange and schedule appointments for inmates at various medical facilities.  Provides security for inmates while at medical facilities.  Transports inmates to court proceedings.  Communicates with persons and entities outside the jail such as court personnel, Clerk of Court, District and Circuit Judges, Jail Administrator, Chief Deputy, Sheriff, etc.  This employee may also be used as a Correctional Officer if needed.


  • Experience in this line of work is required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required

Salary and Benefits

Starting Salary: $11.00 / hr

Other Benefits: 

  • A step raise of approximately 4% per year for first 5 years in addition to COLA raise when given
  • BC/BS insurance
  • Alabama State Retirement available on date of hire
  • Probation period is six months
  • Fourteen paid holidays per year along with vacation and sick leave that accumulate from date of hire
